I Don’t Want to Be Small tells the story of a little boy who is frustrated by always being the smallest among friends, siblings, classmates — stuck on kiddie rides, wearing hand-me-down clothes, and overshadowed in games. His wish is to grow fast so he can be tall like others. But when his teddy bear gets stuck in a tree and even a taller friend can’t reach it, he realizes that being tall doesn’t solve every problem. With humor, bright rhymes, and vivid illustrations, the boy learns that sometimes, being small means you see things differently and that friends, kindness, and helping one another matter more than height. In the end, he accepts himself as he is and values what he can do and who he is, regardless of size.
