Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is an adventurous fantasy novel that follows Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old boy who always feels out of place and struggles in school. His life changes dramatically when he discovers that he is actually a demigod — the son of Poseidon, god of the sea, and a mortal woman.

After being attacked by mythological monsters, Percy is taken to Camp Half-Blood, a special training camp for children of the Greek gods. There, he learns about his divine heritage and begins to understand his powers.

When Zeus’s master lightning bolt is stolen, Percy becomes the prime suspect. To clear his name and prevent a war among the gods, Percy embarks on a dangerous quest across the United States with his friends Annabeth Chase (daughter of Athena) and Grover, a satyr. Together, they face powerful monsters, solve ancient riddles, and uncover shocking truths about Percy’s past.

Throughout his journey, Percy learns about bravery, friendship, and identity, while trying to find his place between the mortal world and the world of the gods.
