The Gift of Magi

The Gift of the Magi tells the story of a poor young married couple, Jim and Della, who deeply love each other but have very little money. Wanting to buy a meaningful Christmas gift for Jim, Della sells her most treasured possession — her long, beautiful hair — to purchase a chain for Jim’s prized watch. Meanwhile, Jim secretly sells his watch to buy decorative combs for Della’s hair. In the end, both gifts become temporarily useless, but their sacrifices reveal the true meaning of love and generosity. The story teaches that the greatest gifts come from selfless love.
